As I sat down to write this letter to you, I began to really think about March. March has an identity crisis. Not Winter…Not yet Spring as we like to imagine it, with baby veggies and flowers popping up from the ground. So why travel in March?
Well, March is when the Hudson Valley begins to wake up from its Winter slumber. There is still a slight chill is still in the air, but you can see Spring is starting to peek out among the fields and woods. Farms start to buzz with activity as they welcome the arrival of lots of new babies. Outdoor antique shows reopen, and entire you to come out of your warm house and mingle with humanity again.

Soukup Farms, one of the beloved local maple farm producers here in Millbrook, have their annual March Maple Weekends to celebrate the start of maple season! You can do a tour of their maple trees and watch the process from sap to syrup; get free product samples and grab some of their famous maple donuts, Their farm store is also stocked with local goods you’ll love to take home with you. 2023 weekends are March 18th and March 25th.

A PARTNER PROFILE: STONEWOOD FARM
This month, as the ground starts to awaken and farmers start to gear up for their growing season, we want to introduce you to our neighbors at Stonewood Farm. One of our favorite farmer friends…Stonewood Farm is a small farm with a huge heart! Their 15 acres, a modest size in these parts..supplies us with amazing heirloom tomatoes for our famous smokey tomato salad, and dozens of other gorgeous veggies. But they are so much more. They apprentice gardeners, help special schools have their own edible gardens for their kids to learn from, and in 2021, they decided to become a not-for-profit organization. Now they have expanded their amazing work to include feeding struggling working families, seniors, and disabled children in our local community and its surroundings.
